Under Construction

As you move through this website, I am sure you have noticed references to information and trainings that have not yet been posted. Both personally and professionally I am Under Construction. Over the next couple of months, I will be recording and uploading the promised content, so please keep checking back. Many times people can assume that therapists must always have their act together. That somehow they know all the answers, and hold all the keys to happiness. Well, therapist are human too. I have good days, and bad days. I also have hard periods in life that I have to navigate as well. Usually, I am able to use the tools I teach others, and follow appropriate self-care, as well as reach out to community for support when needed. When working with individuals whose lives have been forever changed by events outside of their control, I have to make sure that I am fully present, ethical, and healthy. That means at times, I have to slow down, make sure I pace myself, reflect, and recharge. If I don’t put on my oxygen mask first, then I can’t help others. I look forward to expanding the information on this page, and getting my groups up and running again. I can’t wait to take down the orange cones and look forward to interacting more in the future.

You Have To Start Somewhere

Welcome to the first post on the My Brighter Self Counseling Webpage! My goal for this blog will be to write and share about my journey as a Singleton therapist treating clients with Dissociative Identity Disorder. I hope to discuss many topics including new books I have read, trainings and conferences I attend, and stories I have permission to share. Hopefully overtime this will be a fun and valuable resource for many. You have to start somewhere, so let the journey begin.
